personal improvement 3 Personal Improvement Notes On Why Not Giving A Fuck Can Truly Help You Be More Creative

Today, I’m sharing with you notes I’ve taken on an episode Chase Jarvis Live centered around an interview Chase did with Julien Smith titled . . .

The Irreverence Episode a.k.a. Why Not Giving a Fuck Can Truly Help You Be More Creative

I first was introduced to Chase when Robert Greene was launching his newest book, Mastery, and Chase interviewed him for this same show.

Along with Robert Greene, he’s also interviewed personal improvement master Tim Ferriss, Ramit Sethi, Ryan Holiday, and many more of the creative wizards in his field.

Here’s a small sampling of what Chase is world famous for…

Chase Jarvis is well known as a visionary photographer, director, and fine artist with a consistent ambition to break down the barriers between new- and traditional media, fine- and commercial art.

As a photographic master, Chase has won numerous awards from Prix de la Photographie de Paris, The Advertising Photographers of America, The International Photography Awards, and numerous photographic trade magazine throughout the world. Photo District News (PDN) Magazine called Chase one of the top 30 most influential photographers of the past decade.

Early in his career, Chase dabbled in filmmaking, directing and producing short films (winning recognition at select film festivals across the country), but this passion was resurrected in 2008 when Chase launched the world’s first HDdSLR for Nikon. As literally the first artist in the world with access to this technology, Chase was propelled into the limelight as a new “indie” directorial figurehead armed with these new cameras and others like it, as well as the creative chops that have helped defined a new era of filmmaking. As such, his career as a Director and Producer of commercials, short films and music videos has exploded in the last 2 years. Whether working on commercial or personal projects, the opportunity to work with some of the best brands of our time–Apple, Starbucks, Nike and others–with multi-platinum artists like Sarah Mclachlan and members of Pearl Jam–Chase has defined an aesthetic that’s all his own.

If you go to his blog, you can see even more of his accomplishments and why people love throwing money at this guy.

Of course, his talent pours over into how he records these video interviews and he does an absolutely brilliant job of producing a professional looking show.

On top of this, he’s comfortable in the midst of the people he interviews and this allows him to have a smooth conversation with them which relaxes the interviewee into giving great answers to great questions.

Being that I’m a raving fan of the renegade approaches of Robert Greene, Tim Ferriss, Ramit Sethi and Julien Smith to getting results in life, I’ve very quickly come to appreciate Chase as well and consider him to have excellent taste in perspectives.

Who The Hell Is Julien Smith?

Julien Smith, is the New York Times Bestselling co-author with Chris Brogan of the books Trust Agents: Using The Web To Build Influence, Improve Reputation and Earn Trust and The Impact Equation: Are You Making Things Happen or Just Making Noise?

His personal improvement piece titled “Stop Being a Fucking Pussy” on his website is what converted me into a fan.

Now that we’ve got the introductions out of the way, let’s dive into these notes on the topic of why not giving a fuck can truly help you become more creative . . .

Which of these 3 lessons will prove to be the most valuable lesson you learn from these Dan Kennedy nuggets of wisdom?

The Dan Kennedy Renegade Millionaire product was killer in and of itself. It was hard to believe Dan could top it but when he gets in front of an audience, he is nothing short of amazing and this is why this content was taken to the next level.

Here are three of the top lessons I pulled from the notes I took on this kick ass event . . .

#1: The Real Reason You’re Not Getting Paid As Much As You Think You Should Be

The only reason you aren’t making as much money as you think you should be is because you think you shouldn’t be.

Otherwise you’d be out doing what it took to make it happen. Simple. You’re scared.

Dan talks about the hardest part of asking someone for $75,000 thousand dollars and 3% of the gross on a sales campaign he writes is keeping the straight face and not sounding like a mouse when quoting the fee.

As soon as you’ve done something once, it’s considerably less of a challenge. As soon as you’ve done it ten times, asking for high fee is a breeze. It becomes the norm and you come to find that prospects are comfortable with what’s normal.

Most people think their marketing is their problem but they can sabotage good marketing with a bunch of garbage they have in their belief systems.

Dan Kennedy highly recommends Psycho-cybernetics as well as Robert Ringer’s books as resources that can give you examples of how to overcome these self-imposed road blocks.

What will be the most valuable insight that the Dan Kennedy Opportunity Concepts Seminar gives to you?

This $5,000 per person Dan Kennedy seminar lays out a very unique approach to selling from a multi-billion dollar industry that everyone ignores . . . but that you should instead be learning from if you want to get more people giving you money.

marketing notes dan kennedy MyNoteTakingNerd–Top 3 Lessons Learned From The Dan Kennedy Opportunity Concepts Seminar

Let’s see what the wizards in this industry are waiting to pass onto you . . .

1. The State Of Mind Your Perfect Prospect Is In

Dan has a handwritten note that he keeps from someone who requested a refund for his “Magnetic Marketing” kit back in 1997.

It reads . . .

“I can’t use this. My life is going nowhere. Why fight it. I can’t afford it. Thanks anyway.”

Dan has gotten many other letters like this over the years because he’s sold a ton of stuff but he keeps this one as reminder of the dreadful defeated state of mind that the majority of people are going through life with.

When you accept this reality, it’s not hard to see why the entertainment business is a multi-multibillion dollar industry. People want to blank this thought out of their mind minute by minute.

And this guy bought.

He believed in himself for the short span of time that it took for him to hear Dan Kennedy speak and walked to the back of the room and buy. Can you imagine how much worse the state of mind is of the person who could’ve bought but didn’t?

Almost no one starts planning their marketing with this perspective in mind. They instead choose to live in the world of happy-go-lucky delusion and start at the completely other end of the spectrum.

It’s very hard to create marketing and take our own perspective out of the scenario but it needs to be done.

We can’t be projecting our attributes onto our prospects like people project human characteristics onto dogs. Both are different beasts and should be addressed accordingly. Especially if you’re wildly successful.

This marketing and advertising game is all about recognizing reality and meeting people where they are mentally, emotionally, and physically.

Are you meeting your perfect prospect where you are or where they are?

What The Hell Can The Country Singer Superstar Trace Adkins “Hot Mama” Song Teach You About Becoming More Attractive To Your Perfect Prospects? Keep Reading . . .

small business marketing strategies Priceless Marketing Lessons From The Trace Adkins M.I.L.F. Song

Just the other day I listened to my first podcast by world famous Penn Jillette, the American illusionist, comedian, musician, and best-selling author known for his work with fellow magician Teller in the team Penn & Teller and also known for his advocacy of atheism, scientific skepticism, libertarianism and free market capitalism, and I positively loved it.

Dexter has long been a fan of his “BULLSHIT” show that aired on Showtime and specifically his books and has raved about how razor sharp, blunt and funny this man is.

From everything I’ve heard of Penn, he seems to be an intelligent renegade who questions “the norm” and has a wicked sense of humor.

Those are all traits that I admire – especially when they’re all combined in one person.

I don’t pay attention to TV so I hadn’t even known that Penn was on both the high profile reality shows, “Dancing With The Stars” and Donald Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice” and has been asked to come back for the “All Star” edition of “Celebrity Apprentice” which airs this month.

Just the fact that he’s been on these shows, had a show that ran eight seasons on Showtime, has sustained his Penn and Teller show since 1981 and much more that I’m not including here, also says this man is a master marketer which is another trait I deeply admire in a person.

So just yesterday while working out, I played one of his latest podcasts titled . . .

Celebrity Apprentice: The Nobel Prize Goes To Trace Adkins

. . . and a snippet of his conversation that was focused on the cast of this round of Celebrity Apprentice, which includes Adkins, caused my ears to perk up and rush across the room to pause the podcast because I needed to know where I needed to come back to in order to give you today’s incredibly valuable lesson.

I’ve typed this gem out for you, now see if you get the same priceless lesson out of this as I did . . .

Which of these 4 lessons from the ILoveMarketing.com seminar will prove to be the most valuable to you?

Dean Jackson and Joe Polish’s ILoveMarketing.com Seminar was a rapid fire barrage of killer idea, after killer idea on how to activate the profit in your business.

marketing seminars marketing notes MyNoteTakingNerd–Top 4 Lessons I Learned From The ILoveMarketing.com Seminar

Here’s 4 of the biggest lessons I walked away from the event with . . .

1. Screw slot machine marketing

You want vending machine marketing.

Slot machines ask you to gamble. Most people’s attempts at marketing is a gamble because they don’t know what the hell they’re doing.

You instead want the predictability of the vending machine marketing where you put in money and you get what you want out of it which is your perfect prospect delivered right into your hands.

You want to figure out how much you’d be willing to pay to be able to push a button and have your perfect prospect arrive at your virtual or physical doorstep.

Where most business owners meet with massive frustration is when they realize that the mastering of their craft – of the service they offer – will never mean anything unless they master the process of marketing. Becoming a master of marketing is a MUST for any business owner.

When evenly matched product or service wise, the best marketer ALWAYS WINS.

Marketing is a skill set most people don’t have, so it’s very appealing to think of it like undesirable yard work so people don’t want to expend the effort to learn how to do and then actually do it.

So the lazy and ignorant experts are always on the prowl for someone they can hire to “do their marketing for them.”

Unless you are a marketing master and you have checks and balances in place, you never ever want to delegate the marketing of your business.

2. Select A Single Target Market

As prospects ourselves, we are constantly on the hunt for what our unique interest is. [CLICK TO CONTINUE READING]

Is Now The Right Time For You To Hire A Virtual Assistant? See Why Or Why Not . . .

productivity tips When Is The Right Time To Hire A Virtual Assistant?

When is the right time to bring on help in your small business?

I love it when smart people ask me questions.

Just the other day Chris Ducker, asked me something in response to a comment I made on his post titled, “25 Tasks You Can Outsource to a Virtual Assistant to Grow Your Business – TODAY!

He asked, “I’m curious – what type of workdays do you handle yourself nowadays? Do you work with VA’s (Virtual Assistant)…?”

Before I give you what my response was let me make sure we’re both have a similar answer to the question of “What is a virtual assistant?”

I was confused about this.

When I think of assistant, I think of the stereo typical person who hovers at the side of a V.I.P. and screens their calls, gets their lunch for them, sets their appointments, makes travel arrangements, etc.

Up until today, in my mind a virtual assistant was nothing more than an assistant that did all the tasks I named above for you . . . in their underwear . . . from their own home rather than doing all those tasks in an physical office space with you.

Well, “they”, and I don’t know exactly who “they” are specifically, have stretched the term “assistant” with “virtual” in front of it to mean . . .

A virtual assistant (typically abbreviated to VA, also called a virtual office assistant) is generally self-employed and provides professional administrative, technical, or creative (social) assistance to clients remotely from a home office.

Because virtual assistants are independent contractors rather than employees, clients are not responsible for any employee-related taxes, insurance or benefits, except in the context that those indirect expenses are included in the VAs fees.

Clients also avoid the logistical problem of providing extra office space, equipment or supplies. Clients pay for 100% productive work, and can work with Virtual Assistants, individually, or in multi-VA firms to meet their exact needs. Virtual Assistants usually work for other small businesses.

So within this description it essentially means anyone you hire work out to virtually.

To me, this isn’t an intuitive label and it’s not like I’m some 80 year old Amish dude who just wandered off the farm and am all bedazzled by this new-fangled thing called the interwebz.

I wonder how many other smart people are confusing this term with the familiar term and are ignoring content and products that lead with promises like “Find The Best Virtual Assistant”?

It seems to me a better term that resonates universally would be “Virtual Talent”.

Now that I know that you know what is meant by the term Virtual Assistant, I’ll get to how I answered the question the VA guru Chris posed to me . . .

“I’m curious – what type of workdays do you handle yourself nowadays? Do you work with VA’s (Virtual Assistant)…?”

Here’s what I said with some new insights inserted . . .
