Does Your Day Look Like This Sometimes?

Hey,

Kinda funny writing this personal improvement and productivity tips post today. I just spent the last 20 hours trying to figure out some stuff on this *$%$@ Blog and accomplished absolutely nothing. Well… I’m assuming I learned something but I’m not real sure.

Anyway… I got frustrated and disappointed but .. after a bit of sulking and punching a few walls (yeah.. i got a bit of a mean streak in me, but I’m more of the Rocky 25 version if you know what i mean) all i got was a sore hand and emotional distress which leads me to today’s blog.

You see our lives, in general, are built around chaos. We are constantly pulled from one thing to another and yet we somehow manage to BARELY SURVIVE. That makes me think about the very first thing I want to talk about in ….

“The Whole House Part Two: The Basics”

You must have a value on your time and you just have to let someone else handle the stuff that isn’t high leverage, high dollar.

I should have found someone else to do what I was working on today, after about 3 or 4 hours of mindless internet surfing and “do it yourself” manuals, yet the “man” in me just wouldn’t let the task go.

However, that bein’ said, if you’re anything like me, you’re sick and tired of those damn Guru’s telling us to farm this stuff out as they sit up there in their $5,000 suits with the money and resources to do so. Some of us can’t afford the 2 cents it takes.

So here is where you’ve got to “Hustle”.

Yep, if you can’t afford to get some of those agonizing tasks, that never seem to get done, accomplished then you gotta start bartering. Maybe you can trade your services in exchange for someone else gettin’ those accomplished.

Get yourself a “Time Credit Card”! What the heck do i mean.? I’m not an advocate of being in debt… but if by farming that 50 cent an hour job out, i can free myself up to do $20 an hour work then I know I can pay the AMEX or Visa back at the end of the month.

So what I’m sayin here is ATTACH A DOLLAR AMOUNT TO YOUR TIME AND THEN GET OUT AND HUSTLE TO GET THAT &*$#$ TAKING CARE OF BY SOMEONE THAT VALUES THEIR TIME LESS THEN YOU DO!

Once you’ve PLACED a dollar amount on your time, find a way to manage yourself.

This is a new term to me and probably you as well. I picked it up from Eben Pagan in the Wake Up Productive Program where he makes a simple point… time moves no matter what and we can’t change that fact.

By the way, if you’ve figured out how to stop this thing we call time please email me immediately and let me know how.

The only thing we have control over is ourselves!!! I know that sucks. I wish I could blame my lack of self management on Obama or my Wife but they have about as much control over me as I do over time.

So here’s the next, BACK TO THE BASICS, step… find yourself a self management system and start taking control of this. I do not believe that anyone has a lock on this deal.

Dan Kennedy’s been scribbling barely legible daily schedules on notebook paper for 30 years and It looks like he’s doing o.k. One of MyNoteTakingNerd Associates, who’s a little weird by the way, uses a 50Cent notebook as well and has very productive day’s. Me on the other hand, well I prefer the Super Advanced Mega Deluxe King of All Self Management Systems (at least that’s what i think) called the RPM Planner put out by Anthony Robbins.

I’ll post a detailed article on this another day but in the mean time just understand that you need to find “something” that works for you to get your day organized on paper or in your super cool blackberry in neat little time chunks so you’ll be more productive and happy which will hopefully lead to Hot Chicks, Handsome Hunks, and Money.

So after all that here’s one final Tip for today. Learn to forgive yourself.

What do I mean? Well as you might have guessed I didn’t “plan” to spend the last 20 hours the way I spent them but I did. So I can either beat myself up and run head first into a wall or just look at it as a learning experience, find someone to help me move this blog to my server, and get my Super Mega Best in the World Day Planner ..oops i mean SELF management planner out and plan tomorrow and start executing.

So here is a tool for today: Next time you let chaos take over your life… go grab a bottle of Tabasco sauce and hold it in your right hand, gently open it with your left hand, hold it about one foot above your right eyeball and with your eye wide open… pour. Yep, you damn idiot, you deserve it….AHHHH Just kiddin..

In all seriousness next time your day gets out of whack just take a deep breath, Eben refers to this in the Wake Up Productive Report, Relax your body, Forgive Yourself, get back to your plan and Take Action. Good luck!

And if you want to see Eben Pagan’s strategies that allowed him to go from a nobody to a somebody by building profitable relationships with power people, you definitely want to click here now to go see these notes here . . .

Chaos has a repeating pattern locked in it. Get up high enough to see it. The sink is a symptom of the underlying disorder.

It better get out of balance in a Day so it takes more than a Day to fix it.

Lists are the beginning, then set timer and chip away.

    Time, productivity and time management
Well time management and the ability to keep up with your goal settings usually go hand in hand.
There are many “goal setting” and “time management” programs our there.
Personally I am a person who went from the one end to the other :
From being totally unable to control my time and day I finally managed to make great progress on this issue. There are two facets of being productive:
    1) Being productive as a slave-employee or
    2) Being productive as a free/self employed human being.
We all know what it means to be productive as a slave-employee. Our goal of course is nr.2. In this case by the word “productive” I mean:

    A. BASIC MOVES
    a) Having clear goals for your life/year/month/week/day
    b) Achieve your everyday goals in minimum time.
    c) Maximum pleasure from everyday life: You must love your work and work on your love.
These things usually go together and you can never be fully “productive” if you don’t enjoy yourself at the same time.
    d) Get rid of “informational noise”. Years ago it was important to get the correct information. Now it is also important to filter all this info that we don’t need in order to achieve our goals.

Folks we are not going to do anything in our lives if we don’t clarify our goals and manage our time correctly.
For me(and for everyone I guess) this was done gradually and with the help of many time management and goal setting programs but I got most of the help from M.Joyner’s Simpleology and the use of Mind mapping programs.

    Also :
    B. HEALTH AND TIME MANAGEMENT
It is impossible to achieve anything if you are not in good health. I mean your biology controls your psychology and vice versa.
    For this you need:
    1. Proper nutrition and supplements
    2. Sleeping enough and sleeping the correct hours
    3. Detoxification
    4. Enough sun exposure. This is huge for controlling the inner clock and helping in the production of a large number of neurohormones and the key vitamin, vitamin D.
    5. Exercising

    C. Resolving emotional issues
    1. Socializing – Being with the right people. If necessary stay away from people who hold you back. THIS IS HUGE. Most of us live in a network of negative people who drain our energy.
    2. Positive thinking
    3. Resolving emotional issues. This of course is more difficult to accomplish. There are many unconventional methods and schools. Among them are Tapas accupressure Techniques, EFT, ADR and NLP. If you go through conventional psychoanalysis – forget it – it will take years, $ and the results will be poor.

But let me give you some food for thought for the very important issue of time:
It is actually the notion of subjective time.
When we where young we where all feeling that days where very long.
The time was passing very slowly.
As we age the subjective understanding of time changes and unfortunately the subjective time accelerates. We might think that, if for example we are around 40, we are in the middle of our lives.
Well … it might not be exactly so. Have you ever spoken with elderly people about this issue?
My grandfather told me about a week before his death : “after the age of 40 time passed so fast. I just don’t understand it. It seemed that the pace of time was faster as I was getting older.” Have you ever thought how long the dreams last? They might look that they last for long but its actually only a few seconds.

Even when we follow all the conventional time management systems we will not get most of our time if we don’t try to resolve 2 basic issues.
    1) How to delay biological aging
    2) How to control the subjective acceleration of time as years go by.

Katy, It is profound when you realize how much time we just Waste isn’t it. When you really begin to value your time you “think” about what your using it on.

Tim, I’ll be contacting you soon bud. I sincerely appreciate your offer of support.

And, You are so correct about just walking. Sometimes just getting out in nature or the sun and letting our minds go is here we come up with the best Ideas. And Your comment on Timers is priceless. Eben Pagan recommends have 3 -4 timers all over the place and working in workable chunks of time.

You made some useful comments here. Planning time is tricky, but utilizing time
is possible. Systems and routine can be very good. Sometimes the best thing you can do is thinking or walking even though that can be interpreted as unproductive. I like to use a Timer and look and then wonder did I just do nothing for the last 90 mins? Whoa, so then I realize I need to be more focused in my activities.

    Thanks

Sorry about your frustrations on the blog. I’ve always hosted blogs on my own on self-controlled servers, and suspect some of your difficulty my be related to using a hosted blog service. But hey, I could be wrong!

Shoot me a note if you want some feedback/help on whatever you might have been working on!

I’m enjoying the reports. Thanks for your efforts.

I totally agree with your “You must have a value on your time” statement.

When I sat down and figured out my hourly “wage” and then multiplied that across T.V and Internet surfing across the week it was shopping. Consequently I now batch my TV viewing (as you suggested in part one of this) and save probably 3 hours just by skipping adverts!
